Ed and I each swam in fjords this last weekend. And we both lived to tell the story! 
I was out in the swimming area with the diving board. This is Puddefjord in Bergen. It was around 70 degrees in the water - if you didn't dive in and get under the top warm layer! Laying on the slope facing the sun was great - but my delicate white skin made me beat a retreat after only an hour.
Ed and Terry were in Sognefjord outside their hotel in Balestrand. It was warm enough that you could stay in as long as you wanted.
