How long has it been since I was on a road trip? With an ice chest in the back seat and a map in the front? Cris and I just spent a weekend driving from Bergen to Trondheim, and here is my story.

It was wonderful to meet up with Katarina, my first friend in Norway. She lives in Skei, near the Astrup museum. She took us to her place and fed us homemade chicken soup. Wonderful discussions, disagreements, and analysis of the political climate! We left Skei - already 6 pm - and headed for Geiranger via Trollstigen.

Geiranger! |
The good thing about traveling with Cris is that she loves to hike, too We walked up to Westeråsgard at 300 meters elevation, beside a rushing waterfall, Størsæterfossen. There was a fantastic view from the farm.
After dragging ourselves, regretfully, away from Geiranger, we drove the shortest way to Trondheim, another 7 or 8 hours. From Scandic Solsiden, we managed to get to a restaurant before the kitchen closed at 10 pm. Successful road trip!
