Settling into a routine

I haven't done anything exciting lately, but there have been a few nice things to show you. First, there was a free organ recital in the Bergen Cathedral (Domkirke). Here's the organ. It was wonderful to sit listening to Bach in that grand place. I got lots of creative thinking done about work. The ideas worked out when I applied them during the next week, too!
Last Sunday morning, I hiked up Floyen and out toward the opening of the fjord, with Katarina. You can see her picture in one of the first posts. Anyway, the weather was really fine, and we got some spectacular views.

We found this cluster of huts with sod roofs, where we had a picnic lunch.
When we returned to town, there was this guy playing a grand piano out on Torgallmenningen, the square in the middle of town. How did he get the piano there? What was he going to do when it started raining (which it did one hour later)? He was selling CDs. He was near the same spot on a different day, later. An American juggler named John works that area regularly, too. There has been a xylophone player there lately, as well.
The gothic church is Johanneskirke, and the white building with the clock on top is the newspaper.

Lastly, here is my favorite glimpse of a view from the bus to work every morning. It has taken a while to get a good shot of it as we drive by. The weather has been cool and rainy. There is supposed to be a high pressure system moving in, though, so maybe summer will make it, after all!

  1. So the piano player, juggler, and xylophone player cause me to think of Mallory Square at Key West. And the lady standing in front of the piano, what is that brown thing she is wearing? No, it can't be a coat!! It's JULY!

    Sending our best to you.
