A Third Summit!

You may remember my failed "Four Mountain Hike", when I got to the top of Ulriken and then had to go check out the emergency care system. I promised to bag the four summits one at a time and keep you updated. Floyen you've seen several times now, but Ed and I made it to the top of Rundemann last Sunday, right before I took the plane to Oslo for a one week Kaizen event. (work! and long hours at that!)

We started by walking up the trail between Ulriken and Floyen. Rundemann is higher than and behind Floyen. The trail follows the edge of a large reservoir, then up to another reservoir. The upper reservoir was drained. They were working on the dam. That made us realize how many dams are above homes below...

The trail then turns left and becomes rocky and steep as it heads uphill. We thought of Tim, our Washington Trails Association leader, as we walked. Tim, there are a few rocks to move here! Come and get them!
You get above tree level pretty soon, since tree level is lower here. You can see forever. There are side trails to huts that hikers and campers can use. Since it was a nice day, there were lots of other hikers. The trails around here get a lot of use.

We had a picnic right at the top, and then hiked down via Floyen.
