August - fun even with rain

It's been so long since the last post since our modem died. It took pulling a rabbit out of a hat to replace it. Ed called them the first Monday in August, and they said they'd send the modem right out. A week later, no modem, so he called again. Wait! That modem doesn't belong at that address! You must have moved it. But no, the post office moved our address. The building opens on two streets, and the address we have is on one, the address the modem had was on the other. So now we have to set up a new contract. They recorded Ed agreeing to all that, but then said that he had to fill out a form. They would mail it to us. A week later, no form in the mail. Guess where they sent it? To our e-mail, which we don't have a modem to get. So another call. This time, the lady said, "Just a minute" and after two minutes on hold, she said "I accepted for you." So we got the modem a couple of days later. It is so funny the way things work here. Ed is sure that the reason we see no wild rabbits is because they are all kept in offices in order to be pulled out of hats.

We had so much fun this month. First our friend Leon came, then Ed's sister Lynne and her husband Russ, then my sister Debbie. Leon kept taking deep breaths and saying, "Smell that air!" Lynne kept saying, "Feel that air!" (She and Russ came from Phoenix, where it has been over 110 F for ages.) Debbie said - well, you can look at her blog to see what she said. The link is right there on the right side of this page.

This is Leon, with his favorite sculpture. Boaters should watch out for mermaids!
