Sunny in Slovenia

Saturday, the 26th, it finally stopped raining. We were surprised to find that Katarina was telling the truth when she said there were mountains around Lake Bled!

What a view of the Julian Alps!
First we walked up to the Bled Castle to get the distant views. We also printed our names and a woodcut of the castle on handmade paper in the old-fashioned print shop.

After the castle and a stop in a coffee shop, we headed for the island.

We took a boat to Bled Island

Grooms are supposed to carry their brides up these stairs. Pant, gasp.

For the high point of the day, we all had Thai massage treatments. Very relaxing.
The next morning, we were off to Ljubljana airport, and Neal's luggage was actually there. So we opened Christmas presents in the departures hall, under the watchful eye of other passengers. Ed and I flew back home in only 4-1/2 hours, compared to 36 to get here. Neal took the bus to Belgrade, party town of Europe.
Happy New Year, everyone!
