New friends, New Years

We just got back from the International Womens Group New Years Party - a family event for a couple of hours in the afternoon in a church annex. Ages from young parents to old fogeys such as ourselves. IWG was founded a year and a half ago, for women in Bergen who speak English, and what a nice group of families were there!

It was a potluck, so I brought an American apple pie, and as you can see, we had lots of yummy things, from Swedish Meatballs, salmon, or couscous, to that tower on the left that is made of almond paste sweet dough in circles. It's stacked like those toddler toys where the kid learns to put smaller rings onto bigger rings. It's called Kransekake.

You can also see that there is still snow on the ground out there. It's been an amazingly cold winter. Maybe it'll get up to freezing next week. But it's nothing like Toronto. Check out this blog entry from the Yarn Harlot.

Happy New Year again!

  3. Do you knit, too, Kirsten? I've been having fun learning. And reading Yarn Harlot's blog...
Well, BowlingJoe, I ate all the things on that table and lost zero pounds that week! I guess I can celebrate not gaining. This week will be better on the weight chart!
