Brussels, the Pearces, and a great weekend!

Ed and I joined friends and a friend of said friends in Brussels last weekend, and had a fabulous time. Now we have a new friend, too! The Pearces, whom we've been hanging out with since the dark ages, way back in Texas, love visiting Europe. This year, their daughter Calla invited her friend Erin, and we rendezvoused at lunch Friday in the middle of Brussels. The square is one of those places where you walk in from a side street and have to pick up your jaw from the ground. So much gold shiny decorating, and gothic towers, and tourists taking pictures of artists, flower vendors, and each other!

Brussels is known for Belgian beer, Belgian chocolate, and comics. What's not to love?
Calla and Erin with what could be lambic or geuze or kierke or...

They have thousands of kinds of beer with variations of fermentation and flavoring. Ed had one called Duvel twice, that the first sip is "Yuck" and then it gets better. Maybe they put the good beer on the bottom of the glass? ;)

Since it's Easter season, the chocolate eggs and bunnies were everywhere.

These are chocolate clothes! In the chocolate museum.
Comics? I didn't know about comics and Brussels, but they have lots. As a matter of fact, there are 32 murals on buildings. We walked around and saw about half of them. Tin-tin is one of the more famous comic characters, and Lucky Luke had one of the most fun walls.

Notice that Luke is such a fast draw that his shadow hasn't caught up with his gun!

There were lots of other fun things - museums, parks, shopping malls, ... But we have to go now. Happy Trails to You!
