Getting ready for Christmas by eating and partying

We have Christmas parties all through December. They are called "julebord"s, meaning Yule Tables. Last weekend, the book club, Booked in Bergen and Girlfriends Julebord featured CBHH - cleavage, bling, and high heels. We had some great outfits and a great time.
The necklace ain't got nothin' on the smile for bling!

Nice B and HH all in one!

We had traditional pinnekjøtt and lutefisk, as well as non-Christmas specialties, reindeer and cod.
Pinnekjøtt literally means "stick meat". The mashed kohlrabi or rutabaga is delicious.

I was the only brave soul to order lutefisk. The bacon in the side dish makes the bland fish tasty. The green side is mashed peas.

Reindeer steak

Cod, presented nicely
After the main course, we had the White Elephant gift exchange. It was great fun deciding which present to choose, or whether to steal an already opened present.
Do you want a light-weight present?

Does it rattle?

The WesternGeco Christmas lunch last Friday was a huge affair at the Nordhordlands Sports Hall. We had 300 people there.

Lots of food

Our hard-working serving people

Memories of our 30 YEAR history (one or two original employees are here still)

Memories of coming to Norway from India (many funny contrasts!)

Even the mayor was here

And lastly, we embarrassed Vandita! We brought her up on stage, dressed her up, and handed her a basket of candy to sell to earn money for her wedding. It was a complete surprise. Whee!
She did a fine job selling candy, too.
More on Vandita's party in the next post. We kidnapped her from here.
