Round the World part 3 - Brisbane and cuddling koalas

We had parked our big bags in a locker in the airport in Brisbane when we arrived. When we got back at around 10 pm, we could not find the lockers again! It turns out that there are two terminals - international and domestic. No duh! So we were really late getting to Annette and Suz's place. They are friends of Deanna's who are from Brisbane but worked in San Francisco for a few years. When Deanna and they were planning our visit, Deanna said we wanted to cuddle a koala. They said, no way! That's against the law. But we saw it on YouTube, when Felicia Day of Geek & Sundry visited Australia. (I just watched the 7 minute video again - you should definitely click on that link!) After looking it up, they took off work and drove us out to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. What fun!

Feeding the kangaroos

Kangaroos come in lots of sizes

Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree!

The platypus was in the dark, so this is outside its pool.

This cockatoo(?) loves Deanna

What is this? A wombat?

Very big bird - a cassowary

Deanna took lots of pictures of lizards. There were also turkeys and dingoes.

And the whole reason we're here - cuddling a koala!

My next pictures got me in trouble! We stopped at the supermarket, and I was so dazzled by the fruit and vegetable section that I whipped out my camera. Then I had to talk to the  manager, and defend my wild photographer behavior.

The evening was fun with Jax and Bendy, Annette and Suz's poodles, and playing Munchkin, then dinner at a tavern in the West End. 5 am, and we're off to the airport again.
