Vienna with Neal!

It's been a year since our last face-to-face meeting. It was great to see Neal when the Amasonata docked in Vienna at 8 am. Here are Carson, Neal, Furgus, and me at Stephansdom, before the tourists invaded.

Cris at the Plague Column. That ugly woman is Black Death, being speared by a putto with a paint brush(?)

Neal had never eaten Sacher Torte, and Cris had never eaten Goulash, so we had brunch at the Sacher Hotel. They let the dogs in and brought them a bowl of water. They even moved a table over so that we had a little more room. It was wonderful!

Thomas joined us for the Vienna walking tour

Our group heard all about Mozart. No dogs in the park, though.
After the tour, Cris went back to the ship, while Neal, Thomas, the dogs and I went to visit Vienna U. Neal's masters will be in Socio-ecological Economics. Thomas, unfortunately, didn't get accepted at his college. Very sad. He can't re-apply until next year. Meanwhile, he can study the math symbols they use instead of the "divide" symbol being a dash and colon combination, for instance, and the workings of the European Union. Thomas, please stick it out!
On the way, there was this riot of color
Check out the architecture! The overhang is the library. Closed on Sunday.
We left the dogs at the hotel where Neal and Thomas are staying because their apartment did NOT actually become available on Aug. 1. (They got in on Aug 4.) Then we walked back toward the U-bahn looking for food. We had some street food - pizza and kebabs - then had to sadly say goodbye. But we'll be together again at Christmas! Can't wait!
