Birthday bashes!

I turned 69, and Bergen celebrated! Coincidentally, Bergen turned 950 this year.

Here's my cake to share with my geeky friends at Marineholmen Makerspace. It says Pilla is (er = "is" in Norwegian) 45 base 16. Hexadecimal flummoxed most everybody, but Nils Jacob got it!

And here is "Vi e' Bergen" from my friend Elin (member of the Makerspace): YouTube music video
I love this music video! It has a dance to go with it! It has kids, old folks, the mayor, firemen, policemen and hospital workers. It talks about how the constant rain makes the city glitter. It was a big hit at the opening ceremony for the 950 year celebration.

Global laser rainbow
They put lights all over town. The best was the rainbow lasers that shot across the center of town, from the top of Floyen toward Lyderhorn mountain. The lasers glow so brightly when we have the normal misty rain!

A bazillion kayakers with lights!
Penny and I decorated butterflies - Bergen needed to have 950 lighted butterflies!

This is the fireboat in front of Bryggen during the opening ceremony. They used the sprays of water as screens for a light show.
The signs for the exhibits were made in the makerspace. The QR codes are lighted from the back, as well as the letters of Bergen Lights.

This is "In Transit". Isn't it mesmerizing?

We got warm soup and beer at the old firestation, the first time we had a chance to tour it. Wencil would have loved the collection of antique fire trucks!

So yeah, We Are Bergen!
