Happy happy dogs!

This was the first dog agility competition I've attended. We were rooting for Emily and Alpha, who were in their first ever competition. The beginners were absolutely having the most fun a dog could have. You get to run, jump, bark and interact with your human! Who could ask for more?

There is a ton of communication between the dogs and humans. Voice calls, hand signals, and body positions all tell the dog what they are supposed to do. Alpha was celebration barking the whole way around the course. The 'slalom', the posts the dogs have to weave between, back by the colorful wall, was tricky for most. Congratulations, Emily and Alpha. You did it!

The dogs ranged from a teensy ball of fluff to German shepherd size. The jumps for the tiny dog were lying on the ground. The big dogs had trouble getting between the slalom posts. The owners ranged from teenagers like Emily to retirees who were having trouble running the course themselves.

We definitely have to come to more of these! Any readers have dog agility stories?
