Granada, Spain with Cris

Granada is ... so interesting! Hundreds of years of history. Wave after wave of rulers. Flamenco dancing!

First, I have to show you Flamenco dancing at Palacio Flamenco.

The footwork! The clapping rhythms! The guitarist's fingerwork!

https://youtu.be/FSf4tsal2Eg  I was so impressed, I bought his CD.

https://youtu.be/9Pvb-bIpFh0  The rhythm of clapping is integral to the dance.

Alhambra was amazing! I never expected it to be so steeped in history - 800 years of it. Our guide was amazing. I recommend "Get Your Guide" for both the Alhambra tour and for the Cathedral tour, which I took the next day.

Reflecting pools - so peaceful

The columns were irregularly spaced, representing trees. <3

Views everywhere from the top of Granada

As an aside, can you believe Napolean, angry at losing, tried to blow up the whole 2-1/2 mile wall around Alhambra? Lucky for us that somebody broke the gunpowder line before it destroyed the whole place. It deserves being admired by us modern tourists.

The Cathedral in Granada was built on top of the main mosque after the Catholics took over Granada. Our guide took us to other central places. like the old silk market and the crypt of the original King and Queen.

Very fancy interior. Lots of Gothic...

How could you not love this organ?

The streets in Granada were very decorated

The street. The gate.

The cathedral was HUGE

I have probably overwhelmed you with Granada now. Maybe you can get a cup of coffee before starting the next post!
